Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, one of Singapore's largest urban parks, is a terrific area for families to spend a fun day out. The former concrete canal has been de-concretized and naturalized into a magnificent 3 km flowing river with rich banks of wildflowers as part of the PUB's Active, Beautiful, and Clean Waters (ABC) Program. Aside from its distinctive waterways, the park is known for its beautiful flora, Pond Gardens, and River Plains, making it a popular recreational destination for locals.
The Lower Peirce Reservoir, Singapore's second-oldest reservoir, was completed in 1912 by impounding the Kallang River's upper reaches. The forest that lines its banks is classified as a mature secondary rainforest, with abundant rubber trees and oil palms - tangible memories of a time when Singapore was blanketed in plantations.
The Central Catchment Nature Reserve includes the Lower Peirce Nature Trail Boardwalk. This Nature Boardwalk runs along the border of Lower Peirce Reservoir and through one of Singapore's last surviving mature secondary secondary woods. Many kinds of birds, mammals, insects, and other animals that are adapted to the forest environment call it home.
